ID@Xbox Summer Game Fest Demo Event – Day 3

We’re back after taking Thursday off, for obvious reasons, for our 3rd and final day of demo coverage during the Game Fest Demo Event on the Xbox Store.

Game Demo Day 3

Klang 2

Developers Tinimations and Ratalaika Games bill Klang 2 as a “Psychedelic Rhythm-action game, and they’re not wrong. A mix of synth beats and neon colors blast your senses from the first moment as you must time your analog stick movements and button presses to the beat. Controls felt snappy and if there is enough variety to the music I could see this one being a surprise hit.

Freshly Frosted

Freshly Frosted is a simple and relaxing puzzle game by developers The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild (love the name). You are tasked with adding tasty toppings to donuts in a specific order through a conveyor system. The early puzzles offered in the demo give a nice ramp up in difficulty, and by the end things started getting quite difficult. The background score is catchy and enjoyable to listen to and the graphics get the job done.

PHOGS!

This delightful homage to Noby Noby Boy from developers Bit Loom Games and Coatsink was an instant hit for me. The controls were difficult but forgiving enough to give a proper challenge, but I never felt frustrated. The graphics are solid, and the music is great. I didn’t get to try out the co-op but this one seems like an easy choice to make if you have a local partner to play with.

Hellheim Hassle

An actually funny script in a game is a rare thing, but in my surprisingly long time with this demo I legitimately laughed multiple times. The graphics are clean but animations can be a bit jerky, and the music is reminiscent of Loony Tunes. Gameplay itself consisted of basic platforming puzzles that worked well in service of the narrative involving a village full of Vikings who can’t wait to get killed in battle so they can go to Valhalla. Releasing on August 18th from developer Perfectly Paranormal I can see this being one I will pick up on pre-order.
