Microsoft will update their xCloud servers to Xbox Series X in 2021

As reported by Tom Warren from The Verge, it seems we won’t be playing Series X titles on our phones this year yet.

Currently the blades in the datacentres are built with Xbox One S hardware. Later this year 1080p streaming should come to the streaming service, which the current hardware in the servers should be able to do.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is also planning to adding PC server blades to their datacentres. The company wants to enable game streaming for PC games too. Games such as Age of Empires 4 are only available on PC’s.

The xCloud preview is currently available on Android and iOS. Though the iOS version only includes Halo: The Master Chief Collection due to Apple policies. It is supposed to come to Windows 10 PC’s soon.
