Phil Spencer: Ninja Theory are excited to bring the Unreal Engine 5 innovations to life on Xbox Series X

Today Epic has shown a demo of Unreal Engine 5 running on a PlayStation 5. There was no mention of the Xbox Series X at todays event. But, many of Microsoft’s studios use Unreal Engine for their game creation. Among them are the studio behind Hellblade II: Senua’s Sage, Ninja Theory. Phil Spencer has commented on todays reveal with the following tweet:

This doesn’t mean Ninja Theory is using Unreal Engine 5 for Hellblade II: Senua’s Sage. But it’s fair to say Microsoft is invested in Epic’s game engine. As said, Ninja Theory is among many of the Xbox Game Studios teams who are using Unreal Engine. Other teams using the software made by Epic are:

  • Rare
  • Playground Games RPG Team
  • The Coalition
  • Undead Labs
  • Obsidian Entertainment
  • Mojang (for Minecraft Dungeons)
  • Double Fine
  • Compulsion Games
  • inXile Entertainment
  • The Initiative

Other engines that are being used by Microsoft are the SlipSpace engine by 343i, the ForzaTech engine by Turn10 Studios and Playground Games and Unity.
