The HellBlade II trailer is one of the best video game trailers ever made

Yeah, I know it’s really early to be making this. But after having the trailer stuck in my head for many hours I feel confident saying that this is one of the best trailers I have ever seen for a game.

A good trailer, to me, makes you feel a certain type of way. Whether that be happiness, sadness, fear, or any other emotion. Trailers are only a couple of minutes long so they have to tell you what the game is quickly or give you an idea of the tone. The best trailers will give you an idea of what the game is going for without necessarily telling you all of the details, and Hellblade II’s trailer is a great example of that. Some of my personal favorite trailers (which I’ll list below) bring out an emotion that I can’t escape.

The Hellblade II trailer immediately grabbed me by how beautiful the game looks.

But then the beauty quickly dissipated as Senua (the main character in Hellblade) starts chanting, her face looking past the point of uncanny valley. The cult-like imagery, the music, the voices. It all comes together to create a truly haunting and engrossing piece of art.

I honestly couldn’t tell you what happened, but it doesn’t really matter because the trailer has hooked me. I have watched the video probably 30 times by now and it’s still in my head. It’s great. I don’t know what else to say. Sometimes words aren’t enough. And I think the video speaks for itself. It’s an awesome piece of art, so do yourself a favor and please watch it.

  1. Yep, can’t stop watching it. Good enough I almost started the 1st game again but I’ll wait til its closer to Hellblade 2 time. I have a love/hate for that Dead Rising trailer. I call it simultaneously one of the best and worst trailers ever because it does an amazing job of telling a story and has perfect music, but also is terribly non-representative of the game.
