Halo: Reach is officially back. The long awaited port of the last Halo game made under Bungie is coming to Xbox One and PC on December 3rd. Reach is also the last good Halo game (Kidding! Sort of…) so if you’re awaiting Halo Infinite like I am, Reach should be able to hold you off until late next year or whenever 343 decides to release that game.

I remember the buildup to Halo: Reach was an incredibly exciting moment. It was the first full game in the series after Halo 3, which happens to be my favorite game of all time.

I remember watching every single video, trailer, tv spot, and any other type of media I could lay my eyes on. The Halo hype cycle is always an incredibly enthralling experience, and Reach was no different.

Reach is a game that marked the beginning of a new era of Halo games as well. It introduced sprint and bloom into the series, as well as armor abilities and other non traditional Halo elements.

Whatever your opinion on these new entries are, Reach was the game that changed how Halo played for the next decade. I have issues with how Reach handled these implementations, but I can look back fondly at the game nearly a decade later.

With Infinite out in a year (or less, hopefully), going back to Reach is literally going back to where it all started, canonically at least. Playing this game again a mere year-ish before the long awaited next entry in the series is a chance to remember where it all began before we all find out what’s next for the Halo series late next year.

Halo: Reach is a great game, and I highly recommended playing it if you haven’t. Just remember one thing; From the beginning, you know the end…
