
During the Escape ECL Final tournament the first showmatch in Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition was played. The game was commentated by ZeroEmpires who is known for supporting the Age of Empires community with his content. Alongside him was Cysion, better known as Bert Beeckman, the project lead at Forgotten Empires for Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition. Together they commentated the game, but besides that also talked about features and improvements in the upcoming remaster.
In this showmatch TaToH and DauT play a couple of matches with the new civilizations in Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, namely the Bulgarians and Tartars.
Age of Empires 2 is one of the biggest games on Steam. Thousands of people still play the game to this day. Forgotten Empires is the studio responsible for the ongoing support of the game. And they are also behind the remaster releasing November 16th.
During the showmatch, Beeckman also explains about features coming to the game. He speaks about modding support, the new campaigns, multiplayer servers and changes to the UI.
In Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition players will be able to host games on dedicated servers. Mods from Age of Empires 2 HD will mostly work on AoE2DE and the UI is moddable.
